05. 형용사 기능을 하는 명사
두 개의 명사가 결합하여 하나의 의미를 만드는 복합명사일 경우, 앞의 명사는 뒤의 명사를 수식하는 형용사 기능을 한다. 형용사 자리인지 복합명사의 자리인지를 묻는 문제가 시험에 종종 출제된다.
There are two flowers shop in my street. (x)
There are two flower shops in my street. (o)
→ 첫 번째 명사는 복수형을 쓸 수 없다.
I forgot their telephone’s number. (x)
I forgot their telephone number. (o)
→ 첫 번째 명사는 소유격 형식을 쓸 수 없다.

06. –ly로 끝나는 형용사
friendly, lovely, cowardly, daily, manly, motherly, earthly, leisurely, weekly, monthly, yearly 등처럼 명사+ly 단어와 deadly, lonely, likely, silly, ugly 등 –ly로 끝나는 단어들은 형용사이다.
