5. 주의해야 할 명사절 표현
선행사를 생략한 관계부사절은 구조적으로 명사절과 같다.
It’s how we can measure our success.
→ 선행사(the way)가 생략되어 how가 이끄는 절은 be동사의 보어자리인 명사절이다.
= It’s the way that we can measure our success.
→ 선행사를 생략하지 않는 대신 how대신 관계부사 that 사용했다.
= It’s the way in which we can measure our success.
→ 관계부사 that 대신 전치사+관계대명사 사용했다.
This is why I got scolded.
→ 선행사(the reason)가 생략되어 why가 이끄는 절은 be동사의 보어자리인 명사절이다.
= This is the reason why I got scolded. [관계부사절]
= This is the reason that I got scolded.
→ why대신 관계부사 that을 사용했다.
= This is the reason for which I got scolded.
→ 관계부사 why/that 대신 전치사+관계대명사 사용했다.
관계부사 that은 관계부사 when, where, why, how를 대신 할 수 있다.
