3. be+형용사+전치사(to)
형용사 뒤 to가 전치사인지 혹은 to부정사인지를 묻는 문제가 시험에 출제된다. 전치사 to를 사용하는 형용사는 토익 시험 대표적인 문제 유형 이다. 빠짐없이 암기하도록 한다.

[어휘] in favor of ~에 찬성하다 be opposed to ~에 반대하다
※ 형용사 prone처럼 전치사와 to부정사 모두를 취하는 형용사는 구문을 보고 판단한다.
If the driver is prone to be/being distracted by babies or children in the car, he or she shouldn’t be behind the wheel any way.
(만약 운전자가 차에 탑승한 아기나 아이들에 의해 산만해지기 쉬우면 어쨌든 차를 운전해서는 안 된다.)
해설: to가 부정사일 경우 부정사의 수동태(to be distracted) 표현을, to가 전치사일 경우 목적어로 동명사의 수동태(to being distracted) 표현을 쓸 수 있다.
